Carbon Emission Calculation Methodology: All our calculations are based on the GHG Protocol, the leading international standard for carbon emissions measurement. In accordance with this standard, we perform both activity-based (volume of item) and spend-based (value of item) emission calculations, depending on data availability. Our system covers tens of thousands of products and services by utilizing several emission factor databases derived from the scientific research of governments, universities, and NGOs. For instance, data sources include the British government, the US Environmental Protection Agency, and EU-funded research groups. Did you know? Large companies that meet at least two of the following criteria—annual net turnover exceeding €50 million, a balance sheet (assets) exceeding €25 million, or at least 250 employees on average throughout the year—are required to report on their ESG performance starting from 2024 and annually thereafter. These companies will also need to investigate and report on the ESG performance of their supply chains, affecting many SMEs.
